Recap: San Antonio vs. LA Lakers
Tim Duncan scored 28 points and raked in 17 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs, behind a strong third quarter, downed the Los Angeles Lakers, 103-91.
Ime Udoka scored 18 points off the bench for San Antonio, which has won two in a row after dropping back-to-back games. Tony Parker added 16 points for the Spurs.
Kobe Bryant scored 29 points and grabbed 12 boards for the Lakers, who have dropped two of three after winning seven straight. Lamar Odom had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Ronny Turiaf added 14 points for LA.
The Lakers rallied, though, and a Fisher three put LA up 64-61 with 3:33 remaining. A flurry of threes capped a 15-2 Spurs run to close the quarter, though, and San Antonio was in the driver's seat. Udoka scored seven points in the run, including a three in the final minute, and Brent Barry drilled two threes in the final six seconds thanks to an Odom turnover.
The second Barry three boosted the Spurs to a 76-66 lead entering the final quarter.
Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers had cooled off for good, and couldn't make up the difference. Kobe Bryant three cut the lead to six with 6:22 left, but Duncan and Parker answered with consecutive baskets to push the lead to 89-79.
The Lakers pulled to within seven a few minutes later, but a Udoka three-point play and a Manu Ginobili three-pointer pushed San Antonio ahead 97-84, ending any hopes of a Lakers comeback.
Bryant and Barry traded three-pointers late in the first quarter, with the Lakers taking a 23-20 lead, then the Spurs tying it up at 23-23. Four-of-four free throws in the last minute by Odom and Turiaf put the Lakers ahead 27-23 entering the second quarter.
LA pushed its lead into double figures in the second quarter, and took a 54-45 edge into the intermission.
