Where's the soap?
Another week, another scandalous tape. This one (shot in late May) features a foul-mouthed Kobe Bryant spouting off about a trade the Los Angeles Lakers allegedly turned down last season that would have brought Jason Kidd to L.A. for Andrew Bynum.
"Andrew Bynum? What the (expletive)?" Kobe Bryant says in disgust, according to SI.com. "Are you kidding me? Andrew Bynum? (Expletive) ship his ass out. Are you kidding me? We're talking about Jason Kidd. But they didn't even want to do that. Now we're here in this (expletive) up position."
Bus heads for Lake Tahoe
Michigan native and former Steelers running back Jerome Bettis will tee up at a celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe in July. The Pistons' Chris Webber will also participate.
Other notables at the America Century Championship: recently unemployed Stone Phillips, who was canned by NBC last month and former Vice President Dan (Potato(e)) Quayle. Maybe Phillips can give Quayle some spelling tips, eh?

Quick hits
• Sprint will replace Nextel as the title sponsor of NASCAR's top racing series in 2008, according to ESPN.com. The new series will be called NASCAR Sprint Cup, the Web site said. Will it be Sprint for the Championship instead of Chase for the Championship?
• Venus and Serena Williams will bring a whole lot of bling to Wimbledon. The sisters will use limited edition [K]Factor rackets made out of 22 karat gold. Suggested retail price of the racket is $500 and only 650 will be available for purchase worldwide.
Press clipping
• Tom Verducci, Sports Illustrated: "No one should be surprised if the no-hitter thrown by Justin Verlander last week is not his last. Can you name another starting pitcher who throws 100 m.p.h. in the first inning, never mind the ninth? And if you put together a list of the five best curveballs in the game right now, you better have Verlander's hook from hell somewhere on your ballot."
